Filo So Good! Pieminister's serving up something new this summer

pieminister-filo.jpg

Pieminister has long been the nation’s go-to for premium, ethical pies, and from June their restaurants will be cooking up a new style of pie to try.  Like Pieminister’s classics, this new range is deep filled with delicious, sustainable ingredients, but they’ve switched the shortcrust for a lighter filo pastry.  The flavour profiles are different too, taking inspiration from the furthest culinary corners of the Mediterranean.  From Morocco and Tunisia to Greece, with an emphasis on vibrant vegetables and distinctive herb and spice blends, the pies are packed full of goodness.

The new range comprises a plant based, vegetarian and free-range British chicken recipe, made with ingredients chosen for their health benefits. Encased in a light filo pastry and under 400 calories each, choose from:

  • Light as a Feta: a vegetarian spinach, feta cheese, kale, lemon & garlic filo pie
  • Souk Chook: a free-range British chicken, harissa, red pepper & chickpea filo pie
  • Maroc Star: a plant-based Moroccan-spiced carrot, spinach & chickpea filo pie

Hot or cold, they taste great on their own or with Pieminister sides such as fries or slaw.  Or why not try the new Filo So Good meal? A wholesome feast that will fill you up for £13.50, it’s any filo pie, served with crispy potatoes, Tenderstem broccoli, garden peas and pea shoots and tzatziki (for the vegan option, switch out the tzatziki for smoked vegan mayo).

Jon Simon, Pieminister founder says, “Summer feels like the perfect time to add our filo pies to the menu. Come and try them in our restaurant, take some away for a picnic or to serve up at home.  Like the rest of our menu, these pies are about great quality, great taste, and great value.  An independent family business, we think we’re the best eating-out option on the high street, for conscious consumers who appreciate delicious food that doesn’t cost the earth”.

Pieminister is a certified B Corp, making them part of a global community of businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental impact. So when you dine in a Pieminister restaurant you can rest assured that the food is not only of the highest quality, but also made with sustainability and ethics at its core.  Not only are Pieminister’s kitchens fully powered by sustainable energy, Pieminister is working hard to reduce its carbon emissions by 50% by 2025, with a target to become carbon neutral later this year.  Pieminister has also pledged to send zero waste to landfill across the whole of the business and ensure that all its packaging is 100% recyclable or reusable.  Read more about Pieminister’s Pies, Planet, People sustainability goals here.
