Cafe2U accelerates through their first decade with outstanding financial results

Mobile-coffee franchise Cafe2U is celebrating not only 10 years in business world-wide but also impressive growth and financial returns across their 60 van UK network.

In total, Cafe2U has over 250 franchise partners and is the UK’s largest mobile coffee operator, serving barista-style espresso-based drinks at ‘non-traditional’ work locations.

Managing Director Tom Acland was a Cafe2U customer at his office in Sydney, Australia, when he recognised the potential of the business. He bought the master franchise for the UK, returned home and launched the UK’s first mobile coffee franchise in 2006.
In 2014 the figures for this multi award-winning franchise are impressive with a 10% growth in coffee sales from July –

September 2014 against the same period in 2013 and a 13% increase in consumer spending across the entire UK group.
Encouragingly, new franchise partners are experiencing an average 20% higher gross revenue in their launch weeks, compared to the same period in 2012, largely due to the ‘Acceleration Package’. This unique and highly acclaimed programme consists of two weeks in-house classroom training and territory preparation, followed by a Cafe2U launch coach accompanying the owner out in their territory, for their first two weeks of trading, launching the business together. The programme also guarantees a minimum sales revenue of £275 a day for the first 14 days.

Commenting on the financial successes being seen across the network Tom said,
‘We’re all delighted with the positive financial results we’re currently seeing for Cafe2U; they’re testament not only to the combined team of UK franchise partners and dedicated head office support team, working together to deliver great Cafe2U coffee to customers at workplaces and events across the UK but also the strength of our franchise model and our widely recognised and award-winning brand.’

He continues,
‘It’s obvious from these results that our unique ‘Acceleration Package’ is having a significant impact on sales in our franchise partners’ first two weeks of trading. The package was developed because we know how important strong, early sales results are to our new franchisees; we want to give our them the confidence to build their businesses, develop strong client relationships and show them that £275 of sales in a day are totally possible and in fact the minimum they should be aiming for. We are delighted that it’s delivering such impressive results and should show anyone currently considering buying a franchise that with Cafe2U they are investing not only in a truly ethical, sustainable, profitable franchise model, selling award-winning coffee, but also one with a support package that puts its money where its mouth is and writes them a cheque for the difference if they don’t reach our minimum earning level in their first two weeks of trading.’

Recruitment has also been strong, with 11 new franchise partners coming on board and two new members of staff joining the company so far in 2014.

Highly experienced national franchise recruitment manager Martyn Ward, who has previously worked with franchise brands such as iAuto, Alex Clark Lettings, United Franchise Group and Sign-a-Rama has joined the Leeds-based team, using his 18 years of experience to ensure they bring on new franchise partners who possess the necessary skills, motivation, and personality for the Cafe2U franchise.

Commenting on the new in-house recruitment Tom says,
‘Having Martyn on board has made a big difference; his knowledge of the franchise sector is second to none and we are already reaping the benefit of having him in the team as our recruitment figures steadily climb. He embodies our ethos that a franchise will only work if it is right for both parties with a mutually beneficial arrangement. The system must be clearly identifiable and the agreement must be applied fairly.’ Martyn joins operations director Will Vernon, previously of Whitbread and Costa, providing a very experienced senior management team, set to lead the future growth of the business.

In conclusion Tom says,
‘The future is looking exceptionally bright both for Cafe2U, for current franchise partners and importantly, for those who have yet to join us. These figures underline what we have known for a long time, Cafe2U delivers a first-class product to a coffee-loving nation, with a franchise model that enables people to run their own profitable businesses, working the hours they choose and that all adds up to a very attractive business proposition.’
