Kingston Home Carer Takes Colleen on A Seaside Adventure

Carers from Walfinch home care Kingston and Weybridge have taken client Colleen on a seaside adventure.
When carer Charmaine Nel asked Colleen what she would like to do as a treat, Colleen mentioned that she hadn’t been to the seaside in years. Charmaine immediately set to work making that wish come true, and soon, Colleen, was all smiles.
Charmaine planned the perfect day out. She packed a picnic lunch for Colleen and as a special surprise, took along her cockerpoo, Floki, who Colleen enjoys visits with, and together they set off for Brighton.
“Colleen was very excited – and so was Floki! Fortunately, he loves car rides,” says Charmaine.
“It was windy but bright when we arrived, so we walked along the promenade, breathing in the fresh sea air and listening to the seagulls. We all loved it, especially Floki, who kept Colleen entertained with his antics in the sand.
“Later, we found a lovely restaurant with wheelchair access and a view of the sea. We had breakfast there, which was a wonderful start to the day. Afterwards, I helped Colleen with her lunch and we enjoyed another stroll before heading home.”
It was a full day, and by the time they returned, Colleen was tired but glowing from the adventure.
Charmaine reflects: “We took lots of photos, and we’ve enjoyed looking back at them together. Outings like this aren’t just one-off experiences that are great for physical and mental wellbeing. Longer-term, they also strengthen the bond between carers and clients, creating special memories and deeper relationships.”

One of our carers takes a client out for breakfast every week, another helps with a weekly M&S shopping trip. These outings make such a difference, for clients and carers alike.
“It’s activities like these that remind us why we do what we do: creating special memories, helping clients stay active, and keeping them connected with their communities.”
