Greensleeves Out of the office and into the garden as former broker brings fresh energy to Surrey lawns
After more than two decades working in the fast-paced world of City broking, Surrey local Dan Murfet has swapped the trading floor for turf care – taking over Greensleeves Lawn Care Surrey. Officially launching earlier this month, Dan now looks after more than 600 customers across the county – and he’s keen to show local lawns a little extra love.
“I spent over 20 years in a high-pressure role behind a desk and, while it served me well, I reached a point where I just couldn’t see myself doing it for another two decades,” said Dan. “I wanted something completely different – something that would get me outdoors, meeting new people and having real, everyday conversations.”
Dan’s decision to join Greensleeves was inspired by an old school friend, Sam Thwaites, who runs the Greensleeves Clyde Coast territory in Scotland. “After seeing what Sam had built, I realised it was the perfect way for me to step out from behind a desk and do something I could really take pride in.”
Dan has taken over an established local business but has big plans to grow it even further. But his top priority is to ensure customers old and new feel well looked after.
“I know how important it is for people to trust who’s coming to their home to look after their lawn. My first goal is to make sure everyone feels confident that they’ll continue to get the same friendly, high-quality service – and hopefully see it get even better. Good lawn care makes such a difference to how people enjoy their gardens, and I want my customers to feel proud of theirs.”
A few weeks in, Dan says he’s already seeing the benefits of leaving office life behind. “If you’ve been stuck behind a screen for years like I was, it’s amazing how good it feels to get out in the fresh air and chat to people on their doorsteps. I’m loving it so far, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.”
With Surrey’s gardens in safe hands, Dan’s message to local homeowners is simple: “I’m here to help people get the best out of their lawns, so they can spend more time enjoying their gardens with friends and family – that’s what it’s all about.”
