The O2’s vibrant culinary scene has got even richer with the highly anticipated opening of Afrikana, an African-inspired franchise brand set to captivate the taste buds of the city's residents. With its diverse menu showcasing the authentic flavours and vibrant spices inspired by Africa, Afrikana O2  promises to transport diners on a culinary journey like no other.  Afrikana combines traditional African recipes with a modern twist, offering an exquisite dining experience for both residents and visitors alike. The restaurant's interior design reflects the rich cultural heritage of Africa, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that invites guests to immerse themselves in the continent's diverse traditions.

Afrikana is led by renowned entrepreneur Omair Ali, who felt there was a gap in the hospitality market for an African-inspired restaurant offering high-end quality food infused with beautiful African flavours. He highlights, "Our aim is to create a space where people can experience something like no other and enjoy an unforgettable dining experience. We want to tantalize the taste buds and showcase the beautiful culture, art, music and food through our restaurants."  With its beginnings in the Midlands town of Aldridge in 2018, Afrikana now has several locations across the country with 11 more branches including London Mile End, Lakeside Shopping Centre, Birmingham, Cardiff, Leicester, Bristol and Manchester

Franchisee’s Ish Ikram and Ahdil Akhtar opened their first Afrikana in Essex, in Lakeside Shopping center in the food court and are now thrilled to have opened their second in The O2: “We are so excited to bring authentic flavours and atmosphere of Afrikana to O2, which is arguably the best destination in the UK for events and evenings out with the best cinema screens London’s got to offer! We are certain Afrikana will be a great addition to The O2 - we know people will love it just as much as we do.”

Afrikana aims  to offer a wide variety of food from grilled chicken, curries, burgers and vegetarian and vegan options! There's plenty of choice on the menu, with specials including slow cooked Curry Goat, Jerk fried chicken and plantain, Jammin’ Jambalaya and tender french trim lamb chops packed with African inspired seasoning and flavours!

Brand Director of Afrikana explained:  “The vision began with the dream of delivering home-cooked African-inspired food. Our lovely Scots can expect a delectable and brilliant menu covering most dietary requirements - halal, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free items.” … “Alongside this, we take importance in creating a wholesome experience and customers can expect regular live entertainment, African drummers, dancers, and DJs for a lively, fun, and authentic environment.”

Three reasons why it’s #ALLABOUTAFRIKANA:

1. A  unique concept never seen before, from the food and interior to the art and music. It’s a buzzing vibe everyone wants to be part of. Perfect for family occasions, events or a big birthday bash!
