The crème de la crème of Britain’s franchisees have been honoured in the industry’s most prestigious awards.

Among the 15 recipients of a coveted Great British Franchisee Award from whichfranchise.com are commercial cleaners, a pet-sitting agency, a car paintwork restorer, a dance tutor, and a drain surgeon.

“There are thousands of great franchisees in the UK, but our group of winners stand out for their excellence,” says Johnny Sellyn, the founder of awards organiser whichfranchise.com.

“They’re such determined people that they might well have succeeded if they’d started from scratch by themselves, but they’re also astute enough to realise that following a proven formula is a far quicker and safer route to business success.”

The coveted awards, now in their third year, celebrate business success and reflect the winners’ achievements in customer satisfaction and growth, and, in many cases, how the business owners coped during the pandemic.

“They are what Crufts would call best of breed,” says Suzanne Melville, Head of Marketing, whichfranchise.

“These are the only awards dedicated entirely to franchisees, and those business owners are, of course, the lifeblood of the industry.”

The winners are:

  • Jon and Lisa Parker, Drain Doctor Oxford
  • Fatta Thapa, Home Instead Greenwich & Bexley, Lewisham & Southwark
  • Caroline Spiller, Betterclean Services Exeter
  • Louise Richardson, The Creation Station Fareham
  • Alison Chilvers, Bright & Beautiful Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds
  • Brian and Amanda Palmer, Chipsaway St Albans

  • Liz Kelly and Rachael Martin, Diddi Dance Plymouth, Ivybridge, Tavistock & Saltash

The awards are lucky to have such amazing judges who bring a different perspective to each entry: Euan Fraser, Amo Consulting; Derrick Simpson, Companion of the British Franchise Association; Suki Dehal, Lloyds Bank; Jane Masih, IBB Owen White Solicitors and Bill Clark, BDO.

"Reading about the highs, lows, successes and overall business ability of the franchisees that enter for the Great British Franchisee award is, as a judge, a really rewarding experience and one which reinforces my long held belief of the strength and effectiveness of UK franchising.

Congratulations to this rounds winners and I look forward to the next group of applicants in due course,” commented Derrick Simpson.
