"My Personal Best" initiative launched!

With English children’s fitness levels on a downward spiral (declining at a rate of 0.95% annually), Premier Sport have developed a brand new fitness initiative, backed by ukactive, to help combat this issue.

On Thursday 19th May the initiative was launched at a North London school by Premier Sport and ukactive, accompanied by Duncan Goodhew MBE and GB athletes Romaine Bailey and Lee Shinkin. Schools in Islington and Camden were given the chance to sign up to the brand new initiative, which involves four bleep tests over the space of a year, which will help to identify when children are most inactive.

Dr Steven Mann, ukactive Research Director, who used the results of the previous pilot to produce an international research paper, had this to say about the initiative:

“It is fantastic to see the growth of the ‘My Personal Best’ initiative in action. The impact that the programme has had nationally is already a cause for celebration and the fact that schools in Camden and Islington will be able to engage with this model is a real plus to everyone in the Borough.”
