Glee Club UK hits a high note after Moreland composes a snappy new insurance deal
Moreland Insurance, the Scottish insurance broker with a UK reach, has hit all the right notes with a tailor-made policy for Glee Club UK, the high energy choir franchise that is sweeping the country.
The Hamilton-based company has co-operated with market leading group policy insurers to create new and exclusive Liability insurance cover for Glee Club UK, which has 11 franchisees across the UK.
For Moreland, which has a strategic partnership with the British Franchise Association (bfa), one of Britain's most powerful business organisations, it is another step in its ambition to provide specialist cover for franchisors in a wide variety of sectors.
It was through the bfa connection that Glee Club UK got in touch with Moreland, which already supplies comprehensive cover for Razzamataz, the 40-franchise theatre school company.
"The lady from Glee Club UK found us through the bfa website and wanted cover the next day" said Moreland’s Katy Clelland. "Luckily we were able to help her straight away.
"The existing cover that the company had was just a standard liability policy which they had bought off the shelf and were looking for something more suitable for their particular needs."
Glee Club UK was set up following the smash success of the US hit TV show of the same name, in which a High School show choir with an attractive cast stages elaborately choreographed song and dance numbers.
The British franchise's 11 clubs - with more on the way - are open to anyone aged 16 or over to join in vocal arrangements of well-known popular hit songs, make new friends, dance and stay young at heart.
Katy managed to generate a specialist policy that recognised the particular circumstances that Glee Club UK faced in dealing with the public and, in some cases, volunteers.
By understanding the client's core services, Moreland structured a product to suit the nature of the business and built in both employer and public liability, including volunteers, as well as directors’ and officers’ liability - all at a premium which was less than Glee Club UK had been paying for a standard policy.
Terri Martin, of Glee Club UK, said: "We are dealing in a very direct way with members of the public and Moreland really opened our eyes to the problems and pitfalls that could arise in that environment.
"They didn't do that to sell us more expensive insurance. In fact, they were able to provide much more comprehensive cover for our business at a considerably better price than we had been paying for less cover."
