Zambrero to open first Scottish restaurant

Zambrero, the modern Mexican quick-service restaurant franchise, is pleased to announce it has secured a site in Glasgow, and will be opening its doors in Scotland for the first time.
Serving up a fresh take on Mexican favourites, the restaurant is due to open in February and will create around 15 full and part-time jobs. Located in Glasgow’s West End at 333 Byres Road, it will offer the option to sit in or takeaway, perfect for on-the-go or a more relaxed sit-down meal, with seating for 50 customers. Famous for its burritos and bowls, Zambrero also offers tacos, nachos and quesadillas, with slow cooked meat fillings, as well as vegetarian and vegan menu options.
Zambrero opened a delivery kitchen in the city near Scotland Street in September, which has received a great response from residents, commuters and visitors eager to experience Feel Good Mex for themselves.
The new restaurant is being opened by one of Zambrero’s Franchise Partners, Dan Hawley, an experienced Zambrero restaurant owner, who is hugely passionate about the brand and its mission. Having already run four restaurants in Australia, he’s relocated with his family to launch Zambrero in Scotland. Hawley lives in Glasgow with his wife, Kim and three children – Kit, 10, Genie, 8 and Ruby, 18 months.
Hawley says: “It’s the flavour-packed menu, combined with our Plate 4 Plate mission, which makes Zambrero stand out.” He added: “I’m very excited to be opening the first Zambrero restaurant in Glasgow. I saw a great opportunity for the brand here, and although there are already many amazing food options in Glasgow, I believe that the Zambrero food and our mission to help to end world hunger, will cement its place as a firm favourite amongst locals.”
“We’ve already had an amazing response to our delivery kitchen that we’ve been running for a few months now – I’m genuinely humbled by the reviews we’ve received, and seeing new customers ordering every day makes it all worth it. It won’t be long until we’re opening the doors and welcoming our first customers into the restaurant – I can’t wait!”
At the heart of Zambrero is its hugely successful ‘Plate 4 Plate’ humanitarian initiative. Every time a burrito or bowl is purchased at any of its restaurants, Zambrero sends a nutritious meal to someone in need in the developing world via its distribution partner, Rise Against Hunger℠. The combination of delicious freshly prepared food and giving back is why Zambrero call themselves Feel Good Mex.
Globally, Zambrero has more than 300 restaurants in Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, the USA, and the UK, and is the largest Mexican restaurant franchise in both Australia and Ireland. Since its 2021 launch in London, Zambrero UK now has restaurants located in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Reading, Essex and Glasgow. It is aiming to open 100 restaurants by 2030 through its franchise programme.
