Chicken Cottage Lands in Dover: A New Chapter for the UK's Halal QSR
Chicken Cottage has officially opened its first-ever store in Dover, marking a major milestone in the brand’s UK expansion. Located in the heart of Market Square, the site was previously home to KFC- a bold takeover that reflects Chicken Cottage’s growing momentum.
With over 70 stores across the UK and overseas, the launch in Dover strengthens Chicken Cottage’s presence in the Southeast, with plans for more stores across Kent.
“We’re thrilled to be in Dover,” said franchisee Kanthappu Varatharajan. “The support from the local community has been overwhelming- this store is something special.”
The grand opening drew hundreds of visitors from all walks of life. The energy was high, and customers praised the flavour, cleanliness, and standout service.
Dover residents were especially excited to welcome the town’s first halal fried and grilled chicken option, with Chicken Cottage’s menu offering has got something for everyone.
The success of the launch reflects strong collaboration between franchisee and brand. Chicken Cottage’s head office team provided full support across development, staff training, and launch operations.

The Dover store also joins Chicken Cottage’s nationwide partnership with The Children’s Society, with all staff trained to spot and report signs of child exploitation as part of the #LookCloser campaign.
