CHOPSTIX SECURES FIRST AIRPORT SITE

Fast growing QSR, Chopstix has continued on its impressive growth trajectory with the opening of its first airport location on 29th May.

The new London Luton Airport site, located in the departure lounge, after security, is an important strategic step in the group’s expansion plans, and demonstrates the versatility of the Chopstix proposition. The Pan-Asian QSR, which is set to open at least 30 sites in 2023, has seen accelerated growth over the last 24 months, in part due to its flexible model, which means the brand can operate in a wide range of unit types. Amongst the brand’s portfolio of sites are highly successful motorway service area locations, holiday park units, and restaurants across major towns and cities in food courts, town centres and shopping centres.

Jon Lake, Managing Director, Chopstix said, “There is such momentum behind the brand, and the launch of our first airport site feels like a real watershed moment. Operating in high footfall transport hubs not only drives revenue, but grows brand awareness internationally, so we’re delighted to have secured this location at London Luton Airport.

“With best-in-class operational processes and a flexible concept, new Chopstix sites are delivering payback on investment at an industry-leading speed. We know how well the brand does in a broad spectrum of formats, so we expect this to be a high-performing site, and we’re on the lookout for additional airport locations.”

London Luton Airport Chief Commercial Officer Jonathan Rayner, added: “We pride ourselves on delivering a simple, friendly passenger experience, and Chopstix’s ‘Faster, Fresher, Tastier’ proposition makes them a perfect addition to London Luton Airport. With the recent opening of Premium Italian dining venue, Nolito, and the forthcoming opening of Australia-inspired coffee house, Avalon, the addition of another great brand to our departure lounge will add to our appeal and provide passengers with even greater choice ahead of a busy summer.”

Expansion shows no sign of slowing with the group kicking off 2023 with the acquisition of competitor, Chozen Noodle, comprising 27 Motorway Service Area sites. The business also boasts a strong pipeline of new sites, through both company operated and franchise ownership models, having already opened new equity stores in Bracknell and Brent Cross in the first half of the year and having recently secured agreements with experienced QSR operators including Sparta Foods, and trials with Haven and Butlin’s.

Established in Camden Market in 2002 by entrepreneurs Sam Elia and Menashe Sadik, Chopstix celebrated its 20th anniversary last year. The group has grown steadily over the last two decades, before its busiest ever year of openings in 2022, when it launched 26 new restaurants, including a first ever holiday park location at Haven’s Craig Tara Park in Scotland.

The opening of the London Luton Airport site comes as the brand continues to deliver strong sales across its portfolio. The Chopstix Group consists of over 90 Chopstix sites, in addition to 10 sites operating as Yangtze, and 27 sites under the Chozen Noodle brand, which the group acquired earlier this year.
