Greensleeves takes franchisees to France to uncover latest turf innovations
Exclusive access to one of Europe’s leading turf research facilities in Angers, France, has given Greensleeves Lawn Care franchisees a first-hand look at the innovation shaping the future of professional lawn care.
Members of the brand’s Franchise Advisory Council (FAC), alongside two Business Development Managers and Managing Director Cheryl Harper, spent time exploring Top Green’s specialist breeding grounds. The trip was hosted by Origin Amenity Solutions - Greensleeves’ exclusive supplier partner since 2025 - which works closely with Top Green as its dedicated seed-breeding partner to develop Greensleeves’ bespoke turf mixtures.
With hotter, drier summers becoming more common across the UK, the visit focused on practical, climate-resilient solutions. The group explored active test plots to see how drought-tolerant grass varieties are developed, gaining deeper insight into Greensleeves’ custom seed mixes and its eco-friendly Carbon-for-Grass range.
Cheryl Harper, Managing Director of Greensleeves Lawn Care, highlighted why taking network leaders behind the scenes matters: “As lawn care technology advances, giving our FAC direct access to the science behind our products changes how we support our customers. Seeing how these grass varieties are bred to withstand extreme weather means our network isn’t just reacting to changes in climate – we’re actively preparing for them with the best tools in the industry.”
The trip also offered time to unwind and connect outside the training room. After the sessions, Origin hosted the group on a scenic boat tour through the Loire Valley – celebrating the strong partnership between Greensleeves, Origin and Top Green.
Back in the UK, these findings are being shared nationwide. As part of ongoing regional meetings, Kelly Clack, Technical and Research Lead at Origin, is presenting key turf insights alongside FAC members who are feeding their direct peer-to-peer experiences back to local franchise owners to ensure the whole network benefits.
Cheryl added: “When franchisees step out of their daily operations and engage directly with our suppliers, it builds a level of trust and confidence that trickles down to every customer interaction. That peer-led knowledge sharing is what keeps our entire network competitive and ahead of the curve.”
