"Sides" Fried Chicken Restaurant Arrives In Manchester Arndale Centre

sides-manchester.png

‘Sides’, a fried chicken restaurant backed by Youtube sensations The Sidemen, has opened in the Arndale Centre in Manchester. This will be the second Sides location to open outside of London after the Merry Hill opening last month.

The 1400 square foot space will be serving up a new improved menu featuring a variety of fried chicken options, as well as shakes and a variety of sides. The new opening marks an exciting new chapter for Sides as they continue to expand, as evidenced by their two restaurant openings last week.

On November 18th, Sides made restaurant opening history with queues over a mile long for the Dalston location.  Some queued for up to 38 hours, camping for two nights to be the first to get their hands on the double coated, crispy fried chicken. On the same day, Sides made further headlines after The Sidemen were advised not to come to the Merry Hill opening due to the council forecasting 10,000 people turning up. Even without the appearance of The Sidemen at the Merry Hill opening, there were still queues out the door throughout the day, demonstrating that the quality of food at Sides speaks for itself.

The Arndale branch of Sides will seat approximately 40 covers, as well as creating 35 jobs for the local area. The Arndale is the go to retail destination in Manchester city centre, with over 200 retailers serving the city for over 40 years. Sides will be cooking up freshly cooked chicken in a variety of flavours that offer something different to their competitors. The restaurant business has also amassed a huge following on social media, with their social media posts registering up to 40 times the engagement than their closest competitors.

The Sidemen are among the most high-profile internet personalities in the United Kingdom and internationally since starting in 2013, boasting more than 130m combined subscribers on YouTube and millions more followers across their various social media channels.

The group made headlines earlier this year with their Sidemen Charity Match, which raised over £2.4 million for charity and was watched by a sold out London Stadium as well as millions of people worldwide. The 'SIDES' logo was proudly sported across their chest during the game, making the brand a part of a momentous occasion which raised a record amount of money for good causes.

Robin Mehta, Sides CEO, said of the new opening; “Manchester has been a location we have wanted to come to for a while now so we are delighted to welcome the city to the Sides community. We like to say that people will come for the hype, but come back for the food, and we feel as if this will be no different at the Arndale branch. If you think this brand is only about the Sidemen, you should get down and try the delicious, new and improved menu of freshly cooked, double coated crispy chicken, waffle fries, shakes and side dishes. Everyone at Sides is delighted with the growth of the company and we can’t wait to start serving up our flavourful fried chicken to the people of Manchester.”

With multiple successes beyond YouTube, including the likes of XIX Vodka, SDMN Clothing, and other independent ventures, The Sidemen have found their feet in the restaurant space, with the Arndale location representing another exciting step in the right direction for the entrepreneurial creators.
