Owner of TruGreen Gloucestershire wins the TruGreen Franchisee of the Year Award
The owner of TruGreen Gloucestershire, Mike Simmonds is celebrating after winning the coveted Franchisee of the Year Award at ServiceMaster Live!
Held in May, ServiceMaster Live! Was the culmination of two years of planning on behalf of the ServiceMaster team after COVID regulations meant that the event was postponed for two consecutive years.
But, with it now safer to do so, franchisees from across the ServiceMaster brand family – including TruGreen – gathered under one roof to network, celebrate, and share in the joys of franchising.
One of the final parts of the event was an awards ceremony that saw franchisees rewarded for their outstanding work and contributions to their respective brands over the past two years.
One such winner was Mike Simmonds of TruGreen Gloucestershire, who won the prestigious TruGreen Franchisee of the Year award. This isn’t Mike’s first taste of victory, as during our last Summer Summit in 2019 – when he was still new to his business – he won the Rookie of the Year Award. Now with two years more experience managing his business in the more challenging conditions that the COVID-19 pandemic brought about, Mike has proven himself once again to be an outstanding TruGreen franchisee. The best of the best.
Of his prior and continuing success, Mike says, “Winning the Rookie of the Year award in 2019, in our second year of trading, was a highlight for the early years of the business however building upon this to win Franchisee of the Year in both 2020 and now 2021 tops this. We have always had a plan to work with more customers year on year, to create and maintain even more lawns for a growing number of people to have pride in. Whether our customers want a quality lawn for their children or grandkids to play on, or want a lawn to sit and admire with a glass of G&T on a summer’s evening, we are proud to play a part in this. With challenging times for many during the last few years, interest is continuing to grow in terms of people wanting to improve their homes and garden. With this in mind, we are looking forward to continuing to grow in the coming years, welcoming new clients into our business.”
Due to his background in business development, it is no surprise that Mike’s business has grown in the way that it has. He has been able to use his extensive know-how to grow a lawn care business with flourishing success in just a few years. As proven by a business growth of over 50% in the last year. Born and raised in Gloucestershire, Mike prides himself on being able to work within his community to provide his customers with exceptional service and exceptional lawns. During his first 12 months as a TruGreen franchisee, Mike’s business grew quickly, establishing a loyal and ever-growing customer and staff base that has only grown as the years have gone on – including the employment of additional full-time technicians this year which has required a move to new premises to accommodate the growth of the size of his business.
Mike describes working in Gloucestershire as ‘like working in his own back garden,’ and has cultivated a client base of devoted and happy customers who have nothing but the highest praise for both his friendliness, knowledge and professionalism. Awarded based on both financial results and engagement in the community, the Franchisee of the Year Award is proof of all of Mike’s hard work and his genuine love for his customers. Therefore, it was a no-brainer that this pinnacle of franchisee prestige should be awarded to him.
Speaking of his award, Mike says, “Both the team and I are really proud to have won the franchise of the year award. Since launching our business back in early 2018, we have strived to deliver a leading service to our clients, creating and maintaining lawns which can be enjoyed by many. Receiving the award at ServiceMaster Live was a great way to see that we are delivering on this goal. We are subject to many factors which affect our lawns, most notably mother nature and the weather conditions we have. As such, our approach of partnering with our customers and having a fluid ongoing working plan is key to this success.”
