Celebrating outstanding achievers at the Bluebird Care annual conference

Bluebird Care have celebrated their annual conference and awards at The Grand Hotel on Brighton’s famous seafront. Over 200 franchise owners and guests joined the conference last weekend to celebrate the outstanding contribution they have made to the Bluebird Care brand, customers and communities. Regional and national Franchise of the Year awards were presented to the highest performing businesses in the network.

In a first for Bluebird Care, the national winners of the Bluebird Care Awards, an awards ceremony created to celebrate the organisations extraordinary employees were invited to join the network at the gala dinner and receive their awards in recognition of their achievement. The award winners of the following 3 categories; Carer of the year,

Team member of the Year & Registered Manager of the Year, demonstrated such commitment and loyalty, to ensure the high calibre of care that is synonymous with Bluebird Care is consistently delivered to all our customers. The National Winners are representatives of the extraordinary people who make Bluebird Care stand out in a highly competitive market and their passion for caring deserves to be celebrated.

Award day

The conference commenced on Friday with the traditional golf competition. At every conference the network are invited to take part and enjoy a day of friendly competition, comradery and networking.

The day is rounded off with an awards event in the evening. This saw players receive awards for many categories including; nearest the pin, longest drive and of course our most sort after wooden spoon award. Congratulations to all who took part, a fantastic day was had by all.

New brand proposition

This year’s conference saw chief operating officer, Duncan Berry, set out Bluebird Care’s plans for 2017.

Duncan revealed the new brand proposition ‘By Your Side’, which focuses on four key values: ‘More than care’, ‘Trust in us’, ‘We’re the experts’ and ‘Always here for our customers’.

The Conference also highlighted an increased focus on the advancement of technology and in an industry first, the delivery of a Staff Handbook via a dedicated Bluebird Care app, developed in house for both iOS and Android platforms. The ability to use mobile technology to better support the care assistant’s role along with the key values ensures our customers receive the highest standards of care on every visit. Don’t miss the official launch in January 2017.

Annual Franchisee Awards Ceremony

Saturday evening saw the gala dinner and annual franchisee awards which celebrates the outstanding achievers within Bluebird Care’s network.

The overall National Franchisee of the Year Award was presented to Tim Carey and Leisa MacKenzie, from Bluebird Care Peterborough and Rutland. A scoring system was used to identify the franchises that excelled in four key areas: Business Development Management, Quality Management, Finance and Marketing.

From staff retention to regulatory compliance, website management to adherence to payment schedules, the franchise was seen to excel in all areas of its business, and ensuring to go above and beyond on every single visit. On being presented with the award, Tim and Leisa commented:

“We are so proud to be accepting this award on behalf of the company. It truly is a team effort, and we are honoured to work side-by-side with the best employees. They provide the highest, most dignified and professional service that our customers require.

We are absolutely delighted that these exceptional and hardworking people at Bluebird Care Peterborough and Rutland have been recognised in such a way. First and foremost, our commitment is to our customers, and the acknowledgement of our positive team dynamic and excellent care is truly humbling.”

The Founders Award and Spirit Award were awarded to Brian Colvin, and Carolyn and Keith Dailey respectively. The Founders Award is presented to the franchisee who has demonstrated outstanding contribution to Bluebird Care over the previous 12 months, while the Spirit Award is presented to the franchisee who has best captured and demonstrated the ethos of the Bluebird Care business.

Both winners were deemed to have gone above and beyond in their day-to-day business activity, whether it be supporting other businesses and franchise owners in the network, or setting up community initiatives such as the Bluebird Care Buddies, which provides a companionship service to tackle loneliness.

• Midlands West– Wellingborough, Nick Ward & Penny West – Midlands West
• Sheffield, Mark Wright & Mark Lund - Northern
• Glasgow South, John & Jane Perry – Scotland & Northern Ireland
