Franchise Q&A

Can you tell us about Studio Charrette?

Established in 2025, Studio Charrette Franchise was created to provide individuals with the opportunity to own and operate their own business within the planning and architectural services sector. We provide complete training and in-house support from planners, architects, structural engineers, and legal experts. Franchisees focus on winning and managing local business while we supply the technical expertise and systems. Services cover residential, commercial, land development, change of use, solar installations, and compliance projects.

Who is your target market?

Our franchisees come from diverse backgrounds. Some are professionals seeking a new career path, while others are non-professionals looking for a flexible, home-based business opportunity. For clients, demand comes from homeowners, property developers, landowners, and investors who require expert assistance in navigating the planning system. Increasingly complex legislation and housing pressures create a constant demand for our services.

Why is Studio Charrette a strong investment opportunity?

Planning requirements are ongoing and constantly evolving. Franchisees operate in protected territories with the backing of in-house professionals. The business model features low overhead and can be run from home, with national training and marketing support available. Because planning and compliance affect every household and development project, the service is always in demand.

What differentiates Studio Charrette from competitors?

We provide the full range of planning, structural, architectural, and legal services under one roof. Our network boasts a strong local presence, supported by national expertise. We have close working knowledge of hundreds of local councils and can guide franchisees through complex cases. This combination of local positioning and central support is unique in the market.

What is the role of a franchisee?

Franchisees engage with local clients, carry out site surveys, gather measurements, provide quotes, issue invoices, and guide customers through their planning journey. They are the local face of the brand, building relationships with domestic and commercial clients, estate agents, and local businesses. They ensure smooth customer service while drawing on the head office for technical support and delivery.

What qualities make a successful Studio Charrette franchisee?

A successful franchisee is motivated, professional, and customer-focused. They are willing to learn, comfortable with managing local business activity, and able to build strong community networks. No previous planning experience is required. We seek individuals who are flexible, entrepreneurial, and eager to take ownership of their professional growth.

What challenges has the business adapted to?

The planning industry is continually shaped by new laws and regulations, ranging from environmental compliance to energy and transportation requirements. Franchisees need to stay current and guide clients through an increasingly complex process. Educating clients, navigating bureaucratic hurdles, and competing with low-cost providers are challenges that we have turned into opportunities by offering speed, professionalism, and comprehensive solutions.

What have been your most significant achievements?

We now have around 30 consultants working nationally across planning and architecture. Projects range from home extensions to embassies, theatres, restaurants, and solar installations. We have developed formulas and systems that enable even new franchisees to deliver high-quality results quickly. Our same-day planning service has been a major innovation, and we have also attracted clients from overseas.

What does the future holds?

We aim to have 200 franchise representatives and 20 regional associates over the next 10 to 15 years. New subscription products, such as home buyer systems and council tax banding services, will generate recurring revenue for franchisees. We are initially focused on national expansion, with the potential to expand the model into international markets in the future.

What advice would you give to someone considering franchising their business?

Ensure that every formula and process has been thoroughly tested and refined. Focus on service before transaction. Deliver value and guidance upfront because that is what builds trust and repeat business. Take your time to get the systems right before scaling.

If you had to do it all again, what would you do differently?

We would have started earlier. We took time to design the model carefully, and that patience has paid off. Our strategy is to grow calmly and sustainably by signing up one new franchisee each month, ensuring each one is adequately supported and successful.
