Tell me about the Burger & Sauce franchise opportunity

I’ve worked in the Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) industry for many years supporting major brands like Domino’s, German Donner Kebab (GDK), Papa John’s and Young Group.   However, Burger & Sauce is one of the most exciting projects I’ve ever been involved with!

I’ve known the people behind the brand for a number of years and have great confidence in their ability to run and develop a franchise.  I know they will do the right things to achieve their goal which is to become a household name in quality, fresh, tasty gourmet burgers.  I’m now incredibly excited to bring this franchise opportunity to the market, so let me tell you more!

Burger & Sauce is based firmly in the buoyant and growing sector of the QSR market.  Our products are first rate and unique which is creating huge demand.  The simplistic, tech led operation benefits franchisees and staff and although we launched during the height of the pandemic, we are seeing all of our existing restaurants grow and flourish.

For franchisees, there is an opportunity to join a young but proven business.  We offer full turn-key support for all new restaurant openings.  We call this ‘brick to click’ and this means we help franchisees find the right property, design the store and fit it out, we provide full training and opening support plus ongoing operational reviews and insight.

We offer a ten-year franchise opportunity with the chance to renew for a further ten years.  For the right franchisees, multi-site development deals are available in all the key locations in the UK based on Burger & Sauce’s unique franchise concept.

What support does Burger & Sauce offer franchisees?

As well as turn-key opening of restaurants, we deliver a four-week training programme at an existing store.   We also supply two weeks’ pre and post opening support to train and help staff to ensure the restaurant is all running as it should be during the launch.

Franchisees have secure access our online Burger & Sauce portal ‘Source’ (we love the name too!!) which is a franchisee driven intranet containing all operational manuals, food safety, health & safety and legal information.  It’s a one stop shop to reference everything franchisees need, all in one place.

As a management team, we are also committed to helping franchisees with the ongoing development of their restaurants.  We conduct regular audits and advise on best operational practices for each business.

On the marketing side, we have a national agreement with a delivery aggregator.  This enables immediate marketing for all restaurant openings in the UK.  We normally advise a soft launch for new franchisees and sites, so staff can get fully up to speed for a couple of weeks before a ‘grand opening launch’ with social media advertising, opening offers and local PR.  At this point we will turn on the aggregator marketing and let customers flood in!

What is the franchisee discovery process?

An online application will lead to a one-to-one meeting with myself.  Potential franchisees sign an NDA so I can present more information about the franchise.  It’s also the chance to ask any questions and ensure potential franchisees are a great fit for our brand and the franchise will suit them too.  Potential franchisees will visit a restaurant and if they are interested in moving ahead, produce a business plan/proposal for their own Burger & Sauce restaurant.  Final applicants are approved by formal interview.

What does a franchise cost?

The investment level for a Burger & Sauce franchise is typically around £200-450K depending on circumstances and the type of unit.  This is made up of £15K franchisee fee plus 5% management fee and 1% marketing contribution plus store rent and fit out.

We first became established in the Midlands but there is a huge opportunity nationwide.  We have mapped the UK and identified upwards of 300 suitable locations for Burger & Sauce franchised restaurants.  Therefore, multi-site franchise options and deals are available for the right candidates throughout the UK.   Opportunities may also be considered abroad in the future.

How can a potential franchisee gain finance?

We work with the main lending institutions to make introductions for potential franchisees, subject to status.

Who would make a great Burger & Sauce franchisee?

Great Burger & Sauce franchisees will be ambitious!  They will recognise the significant prospect that our brand offers in the marketplace.  They will be committed and enthusiastic about food and likely to have business or previous QSR experience.  They will be great with people and enjoy working as part of a team.

Why is this a great time to invest in a Burger & Sauce franchise?

We know the gourmet burger sector continues to grow.  Figures suggest the UK burger market was worth £3.27 Billion in 2019, an increase from £2.7 billion in 2011.  This represents 18% growth in eight years with the demand for a gourmet burger outstripping other types of offers.

We launched Burger & Sauce at the height of the pandemic and were quick to see success.  Now the country has opened back up, we are experiencing tremendous sales for each of our existing restaurants.  There is a real momentum and demand for our fresh, tasty burgers and customers visiting sites are asking ‘when are you opening up in my area?’

For franchisees we offer a simple concept, great, innovative products and full support in a demanded space.
