Interview with Penelope Copsey, CeX: "A profitable brand that would provide the support needed!"

Name: Penelope Copsey

Franchise: CeX

Location: Ruislip

What was your previous occupation and why did you leave?

Before joining CeX as a franchisees I was a mobile nail technician and worked in RMAs for a CeX store.

Why did you decide to look into franchising?

It was actually the idea of a CeX franchise that lead me look into franchising. I found CeX's company ethos appealing, I knew from research and through other franchisees that the model works, and the people within the CeX make it such a great company to be part of.

What was your criteria for a franchise?

A profitable brand that would provide the support needed by first time franchisees!

Where did you find out about the CeX franchise?

I already worked in a CeX store and had known other CeX franchisees.

What appealed most about a CeX franchise?

Three simple things: The model. The ethos. The people.

What training did you receive?

On top of the experience I already had from working in store I received further training on how to run a store from a business side, and spent further time in store to understand all the roles and at head office.

How would you rate it?

Ten out of ten.

Since becoming a franchise owner is it how you expected it to be?

There’s a lot more involved than I had anticipated but all the support and guidance has been amazing so far.

What type of support have you received?

Training in the day to day running of the store and the more complex business side of managing your own business as part of a larger brand. If I'm ever stuck support is just an email or phone call away, I really can’t fault it.

What aspect of it have you found most beneficial?

That there is a clear brand and business guideline to follow.

Are you on target to meet your business plan?

Yes, so far so good!

Do you feel the CeX has fulfilled their obligations?

Yes.

What do you enjoy most about your business? – How has it improved your lifestyle?

I’m somewhat of an environmentalist, so the idea that the company recycles electronics and stops so much tech and consumer products going into the landfill makes me feel good.

What are your future plans for the business?

I really want to expand in the future and have at least 2-3 stores.

What sort of person do you think a CeX franchise would suit?

Someone who is upbeat, loves technology and the environment!
