Lancashire-based Green Shield Group have been appointed to deliver a 999.58 kWp solar photovoltaic system at automotive firm Uniroyal Global in Earby with work commencing on-site last week.

The specialised SolarEdge system, which will save almost 300,000 kg of CO2 per year, will also provide a cost saving to Uniroyal of over £2 million spanning a 10 year period.

Lee Roberts, Sustainability Consultant at Green Shield Group said: “Working with Uniroyal on this large system will hugely support their net-zero carbon pledge. The system we are now installing will enable the business to protect itself whilst also delivering reduced energy rates and protection against any future price rises. It will also not only generate energy to be consumed on site, but will typically give electricity bill savings of over 20% making this the perfect solution for Uniroyal Global.”

Mark Heron, Uniroyal Global said: “Being able to work with Green Shield Group on this project on a Power Purchase Agreement has enabled us to implement our green energy strategy earlier meaning Uniroyal will make savings from day one enabling us to invest into other areas of the Uniroyal Global business. Green Shield Group has been a great support throughout the process and we are looking forward to seeing the finished result and reaping the rewards.”

This project is being delivered in partnership with Shawton Energy and Iona Capital, it will be delivered as a Power Purchase Agreement.

Solar PV modules generate clean electrical power by converting solar radiation into direct current. Inverters then convert DC into grid-compliant alternating current used to power homes, buildings and businesses and utility power is then provided when needed.
