KFC OPENS NEW RESTAURANT IN MONKS CROSS SHOPPING PARK

York gets another serving of finger lickin’ good chicken, as KFC opens a brand-new restaurant at Monks Cross Shopping Park.
Opening to customers on 17th October, the new drive-thru restaurant will serve up KFC's full menu of fried chicken favourites, including the recently launched Tenders & Dips range, and the limited-edition Mozzamelt menu including the Mozzamelt Burger and Mozza Dipping Feast* as well as its bold drinks range Kwench.
The new restaurant features seating for 64 guests choosing to tuck into their KFC favourites in restaurant, with delivery and drive thru lane available for customers who prefer to grab, go and enjoy their finger lickin’ chicken on the move or at home. The restaurant is also among the first in the UK to showcase the latest KFC restaurant design and will have a dedicated waiting area for delivery drivers. The restaurant will also be fitted with four digital ordering kiosks and has parking space for 15 vehicles.
The opening will create 40 new jobs in the local community, including a mixture of Team Member, Team Leader and management roles. New team members will be provided with training and development opportunities to support their career progression at KFC, with applications still open for those wanting to join the coop**.
As part of KFC’s commitment to being a good neighbour in local communities, the KFC Monks Cross team will take part in daily litter picks to keep the local community clean and tidy. KFC will also donate surplus food to local community kitchens through its partnership with The Felix Project.
The new Monks Cross restaurant will be operated by the Adil Group, a KFC franchise partner of 22 years. Since acquiring 11 restaurants across Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire in 2004, Adil Group has grown to 113 restaurants, with the Monks Cross opening marking its third KFC restaurant opening of the year, following new restaurants in Ashford and Acton.
Dan Marshall, Head of Franchise Operations at KFC UK&I, said, at KFC UK & Ireland said: ““We meant business when we announced our £1.5 billion growth plans, and today’s opening of our brand-new Monks Cross restaurant puts that ambition into action. Our partnerships with franchisees like Adil Group are the backbone of these growth plans – together we’re bringing KFC to more people, investing in the places we serve and creating new opportunities for local communities. With 40 new jobs and a brilliant new team ready to go, we can’t wait to see the continued growth delivered by one of our key partners.”
Raja Adil, CEO at The Adil Group, added: “There’s been a huge amount of work behind the scenes to get the new Monks Cross restaurant ready, so it’ll be a proud moment for the whole team when we open the doors. It’s another important step in our growth, and we’re looking forward to creating more opportunities for our people, becoming part of more local communities and, of course, serving up plenty of KFC favourites.”
The new restaurant forms part of KFC's £1.5 billion UK and Ireland growth plan - a commitment announced as part of its 60-year celebrations. This investment will see 500 restaurants open over the next decade, and more than 7,000 jobs created across the business and its supply chain.
As part of the brand’s 60-year celebrations it also released its first Economic and Community Impact Report which calculates that each year KFC contributes more than £1.1billion to the UK economy. In Yorkshire & Humber KFC contributes a total of £73million and supports 3,101 jobs, through its restaurants across the region.
