Staines engineer shares top three tips to help households save hundred on appliance repair

As household budgets remain under pressure, Staines engineer Muhammad Iqbal is encouraging residents to think twice before replacing broken appliances.
With nearly 20 years’ experience in appliance repairs, Muhammed has helped thousands of customers get their homes back up and running, often saving them the cost and inconvenience of buying a replacement. Having worked for major brands like Hoover, Muhammad has built a wealth of knowledge across everything from washing machines and dishwashers to ovens and tumble dryers.
This summer, he launched Pacifica Local Staines, bringing trusted repair, maintenance, and installation services to local homes and businesses. Muhammad is helping customers save money, reduce hassle, and extend the life of their household appliances.
“Many people assume a broken appliance has reached the end of its life, but that’s often not the case,” said Muhammad. “In many instances, a repair can get it working again for a fraction of the cost of replacing it. It’s better for customers’ wallets and better for the environment too.”
Muhammad has three top tips to help customers avoid unnecessary repair and replacement costs:
1. Don’t ignore small issues – unusual noises, leaks, or warning lights can often be fixed quickly before they develop into more expensive problems
2. Keep appliances clean – regularly cleaning filters, seals, and vents can improve performance and help appliances last longer
3. Get expert advice before replacing – don’t take the word of your resident DIY enthusiast! Many faults can be repaired for far less than the cost of buying a new appliance.
As a long-time Staines resident, Muhammad says being able to serve the community he lives in is one of the most rewarding parts of the job.
“There’s something special about helping people in your own area,” added Muhammad. “Whether it’s a family needing their washing machine back up and running or a local business relying on essential equipment, it’s great to know you’re on hand to make a real difference.”
Looking ahead, his focus in on continuing to grow his reputation across Staines and becoming the go-to appliance expert for local homes and businesses. “My aim is simple – to provide great service, honest advice, and quality repairs that people can rely on.
“I’m really proud to be building my business here in Staines and look forward to helping even more locals in the years ahead.”
