Bunsik Opens Final Company-Owned Store as Maguro Group Shifts to Franchise Expansion

Maguro Group has opened its final company-owned location for its Korean street food brand Bunsik as the business is shifting its focus to franchise expansion. The new site, located at Kiosk 4 in The Orient at Manchester’s Trafford Centre, officially opened on Wednesday, 20 May, becoming Bunsik’s 12th UK location.
The Trafford Centre opening follows the launch of Bunsik’s first south London restaurant last week at 490 Brixton Road in Brixton. It also marks the brand’s second Manchester site, joining its existing Piccadilly Gardens location, which opened in 2023.
To support recruitment for the Trafford Centre venue, Bunsik partnered with youth employment charity Street League, helping fill 13 roles ahead of launch.
The Brixton restaurant is operated by Bunsik’s newest franchise partner, CMB Hospitality. Maguro Group founder Jae Cho said “The openings highlight the growing popularity of Korean street food across the UK. He added that the success of the Piccadilly Gardens site made further expansion into Greater Manchester an obvious next step, while Brixton offered an opportunity to enter a vibrant new London market.”
CMB Hospitality director Vicente Marti said “The company was immediately attracted to Bunsik because of its strong product offering, proven customer demand and the operational expertise of the Maguro Group team. He added that the partnership gave the franchisee confidence in the brand’s future growth.
Bunsik’s first franchise partner was former Subway franchisee Will Bray, who has already opened two Bunsik locations in Bristol and Southampton.
