Marugame Udon continues to grow across London with its latest flagship kitchen in Soho, opened on Saturday 1st October in Argyll Street, Oxford Circus.

Following five successful openings across the city, Marugame Udon’s newest launch is situated in London’s central shopping destination – Oxford Circus - to give Londoners and visitors to the city a taste of Japan’s favourite hand-made udon.

The 5756 sq. ft restaurant will be located in Argyll Street, a stone’s throw away from Oxford Circus Station. The site will feature 125 covers, including new click and collect kiosks for those who would like to enjoy their udon on the go. Positioned next door to the London Palladium the restaurant is set over two floors, as Marugames largest London site yet.

Diners can expect to be greeted with the open-style kitchen where they will be in the centre of the hustle and bustle of the udon kitchen. Step inside and choose your udon bowl over the counter, opt for the traditional Kama Age (£3.45), the most traditional and purest way to eat udon or customer favourite Chicken Katsu Curry Udon (from £6.95). Jazz it up with tempura and omusubi sides then head to the ‘build your own’ condiment station with fresh chillies, ginger, and Japanese sauces to personalise your meal.

All Marugame’s udon noodles are made fresh in-house throughout the day, using three simple ingredients wheat, salt and water, a traditional recipe which creates a chewier ‘mochi mochi’ texture of the Sanuki style thick udon noodle.

The speed of service, the impressive quality, and the value for money at Marugame make it the ideal spot for families, groups of friends, or those who are dining alone and looking for a bite to eat while shopping or exploring the local neighbourhood. Marugame Udon offers casual and affordable dining, with a menu that is both fresh and affordable, with bowls of freshly made udon starting from just £3.45.

Keith Bird, Marugame Udon CEO said: “We’re so excited to be opening our second flagship in Oxford Circus, it’s such an energetic and buzzing area and we can’t wait to bring Marugame into the heart of central London. Our new casual dining concept will fit perfectly into the liveliness of the area to give diners freshly prepared restaurant cuisine with a fast-food time.”

Marugame Udon will be bringing a slice of Japanese culture to central London with an anime inspired Marugame Matsuri (Matsuri 祭り= Festival in Japanese) to celebrate the opening of its Oxford Circus kitchen on Saturday 1st  October. J-Pop singer MION will perform hits songs from anime such as Demon Slayer, NARUTO, and Sailor Moon from 1:30-3:00PM. Visitors will also have the opportunity to have their photograph taken with stars from the UK cosplay scene who will be dressed as cult characters from the shows from 12PM onwards.

Marugame will also give away 500 FREE bowls of udon to celebrate grand opening day on Saturday 1st  October. To claim one of the 500 FREE bowls simply join the Marugame club here and your FREE udon reward will be sent into your inbox. The rewards will be given away to the first 500 sign ups so hurry to bag yours! To join the club, collect ‘Bowl Stamps’ and earn treats and rewards on each visit to Marugame, visit https://marugame.co.uk/jointheclubOC/.

Marugame Udon made its UK and European debut in the London last year with its flagship site off Liverpool Street, followed by four successful openings, The O2, Canary Wharf, St Christopher’s Place AND Brent Cross. Marugame Udon’s new Argyll Street restaurant will be its sixth, continuing its mission to introduce udon to all.

Discover delicious, authentic Japanese udon this year. That’s the Marugame way.
