Harrogate based Ventilation Manufacturer and Franchisor EnviroVent has been recognised as an industry leader in the national Landlord and Letting Awards.

It is fantastic that all the work the team has put in has been recognised and this will motivate us all to keep on improving and get another award next year”
Oliver Romain, editor of Landlord and Buy-to-Let magazine and lead judge for the Awards, commented: “The Landlord and Letting Awards are the letting industry Oscars and attract a lot of entries. Competition was particularly tough this year, however, the judges were really impressed with EnviroVent’s entry.”
“It’s a fantastic achievement for EnviroVent to win the Specialist Supplier award and a real pleasure for us to be able to reward their success.”
Trophies for the annual awards were presented at gala dinner held at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire, on Wednesday 28th November 2012.
EnviroVent Franchise Owner for North Yorkshire, Stuart Wright, has been accepted as an ambassador for Asthma UK. The role will see Stuart, whose daughter suffers from asthma, help raise awareness and educate the local community about the condition.
“As a Father I can honestly say that there is nothing more frightening then seeing your own child struggling for breath.” said Stuart, “As part of my involvement with Asthma UK, I will be giving talks to local schools and playgroups to teach people what to do when an attack occurs. I believe that it is fundamentally important that anyone coming into regular contact with children who suffer from asthma knows exactly what to do.”
1.1 million children in the UK are affected by asthma and on average there are 2 children with asthma in every classroom in Britain.
Apart from being an exceptional good opportunity what really attracted Stuart to EnviroVent was the potential to help people with asthma. He said “If I had known that using the correct ventilation in our home may have prevented my daughter suffering asthma attacks in the first place, I would have jumped at the chance.”
Stuart explains “in a poorly ventilated home an increase in the levels of humidity creates the ideal breeding ground for dust mites, a known trigger of asthma and other respiratory problems. The ‘tell-tale’ signs of poor ventilation are condensation and mould; what’s more, mould spores are also known allergens that can set off asthma and dust allergies. Children who live in damp, mouldy homes are more likely to experience coughing and wheezing, however by installing the right type of ventilation you can help to alleviate these symptoms.”
EnviroVent are delighted to award the Dorking and Brighton Territory to new Franchise Owner Richard Whiting.
Richard, who lives in Worthing, is passionate about improving indoor air quality and understands the importance of creating a healthy home by guaranteeing a permanent cure to condensation and mould.
Richards says “Condensation and Mould problems in Sussex are on the rise due to an increase in Energy saving measures such as double glazing and loft insulation, making our homes more energy efficient but also air tight. This results in properties being unable to breathe, which in turn can cause problems with Asthma and Allergies due to the rise of relative humidity and dust mite populations.”
Richard continues “We also provide Full Home Heat Recovery systems to the Domestic market and will soon be launching the innovative single room extract fans with heat recovery. However, PIV or Positive Input Ventilation is the best solution for condensation and mould problems. PIV also saves up to 10% on space heating costs so is a green ventilation solution. The Green credentials of EnviroVent was a key factor in joining the network.”
EnviroVent have published a set of ‘Value Propositions’ designed to highlight the unique benefits on offer to customers. The informative set of propositions explains how EnviroVent can help homeowners and private landlords to eliminate condensation and mould, safeguard the fabric of their home whilst saving time and money.
Business development manager, Phil Harrison, said “Understanding our target market as we continue to grow and develop is critical. The ‘Value Propositions’ were created so that we can keep focused on what our message is to both homeowners and private landlords and they can see the unique benefits we offer them along with how we achieve our promises.”
Winners of the Best Large Business at this Year’s Ackrill Media Awards, EnviroVent, have reached the finals of the British Franchise Association (BFA) Franchisor of the Year Awards in the category Brand Builder of the Year.
Flying the flag as British manufacturers of sustainable ventilation solutions, the company, who have enjoyed continued growth despite recent economic instability, expanded into the private Homeowner and Landlord market in 2009 creating a new sales division serviced by a network of franchisees. Traditionally, EnviroVent’s target market was the B2B developer, architect and specifier market with a heavy focus towards technical and product-led content, now the company’s marketing team had to look at ways to build brand awareness and educate a whole new audience on the importance and benefits of good indoor air quality.
Through various marketing activities including press advertising, PR and exhibitions along with localised activities such as carrying out presentations at local landlord forums throughout the country as well as being accredited with the National Landlords Association (NLA) and the Regional Landlord Association (RLA), EnviroVent successfully raised brand awareness. The landlord events proved particularly successful, as the audience quickly grasped the effectiveness of the products and the money which could be saved in the long term by protecting the fabric of their investment against condensation and mould problems.
Also targeted were homeowners, where the task was to educate them about indoor air quality, this audience quickly recognised that not only did EnviroVent’s products provide a solution to their condensation and mould issues, but could be beneficial to their health as well. As EnviroVent’s units stabilise the levels of humidity in the home to reduce condensation and mould, in doing so they also reduce the house dust mite population, a known trigger for asthma and allergies, helping to alleviate the symptoms of the sufferer. In January 2012, the company took brand awareness a step further by breaking into new ground with the launch of their very first TV ad campaign.
Since launching the domestic division in 2009, the company has seen continued growth in this area, with sales at the end of 2011/12 44% up on the previous year.
Phil Harrison, EnviroVent’s Franchise Manager, said. “With over 20 million private households in the UK presenting us with a huge opportunity, we have 49 territories covering England, Scotland and Wales. As a result each franchisee will own a territory containing approximately 400,000 households and 1 million in population. So far we have sold 27 territories and have franchises covering areas in the South, Midlands, North, Wales and Scotland.”
Becoming an EnviroVent franchise owner involves in-depth training followed up by continuous support from a designated team led by Phil based at the Harrogate office. Once trained, the franchisees become known as Ventilation Experts and the service which each one offers includes a free, no obligation home survey – offered to both homeowners and private landlords.
A home survey enables the Ventilation Expert to assess the problem using a device called a therma-hygrometer which measures the relative humidity levels in the property. The result of the survey will allow them to determine and recommend the correct type of ventilation for the dwelling to effectively solve condensation problems and improve indoor air quality.
