Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what you were doing prior to buying your Hire A Hubby franchise?
Before starting my Hire A Hubby franchise, I worked in transport management as well as driving HGV’s.
Can you also tell us about the franchise you have bought?
Hire A Hubby is a property maintenance and handyman franchise. Our Franchisees come from a diverse range of backgrounds, not necessarily trades. My franchise is based in Woburn Sands which is in Milton Keynes.
I chose the franchise route as it offered the support and business model to help me take the leap of faith into self-employment.
How did you raise the finance?
Government backed franchise loan.
What training and support did you receive initially and ongoing?
I was the first to have the remote online training as I took the leap during the Covid Pandemic.
How would you describe your day-to-day role as a franchisee?
A busy and rewarding day, that involves wearing multiple hats!
Provide information on challenges overcome.
Challenges, I have still to overcome is managing my time more efficiently in order to give me a happy work life / home life balance.
Has becoming a franchisee changed your life, if so how?
It has totally changed our lives. We now have full control of how we live and when we work and holiday.
What is the most invaluable piece of advice you could give someone looking to buy their first franchise?
Follow the business model and the support offered from head office.
What are your plans for the future?
We want to expand and have multiple vehicles on the road.
