Why did you go down the franchise route? And why did you choose your franchise?

I chose to go down the franchise route rather than setting up a new company for the support being a franchisee receives. Rather than entering an unknown world as a total newcomer I was doing so with the back-up and support of a very well-established, well-known and successful company. It was very reassuring in the early months to be able to tell clients that Homeclean had been in business for many years.

What did you do before taking up a franchise?

Before taking up this franchise I worked as office manager and company secretary for a successful property company in the West End. I had been there for 14 years and felt I need a change and a new challenge.

How did you raise the finance?

I was fortunate enough to have some money in the bank to cover the initial franchise costs.

What training and support did you receive initially and ongoing?

The initial training consisted of two-weeks in the head office, getting to know the sophisticated system in place for day-to-day running of each individual set-up, together with advice on how to deal with enquiries, problems etc. Ongoing advice and support is always available.

What is a typical day for you as a franchisee?

There is no typical day! Each day brings fresh surprises and rewards. The beauty of the job is being able to work from home, and also to take it with me when I have other family/personal commitments. I can log on anywhere and transfer the phone calls to my mobile.

Has becoming a franchisee changed your life, if so …how?

Becoming a franchisee has changed my life. It brings the best of two worlds in that I run my own business (and am able to work from home) but have the support of a more established business too. I have now been successfully running my two neighbouring territories for 3.5 years.
