Why attend a franchising exhibition

by Tony Urwin - Franchise Development Services

A franchise exhibition is the shop window of the franchise industry. It is your opportunity to talk, face to face, with franchisors and possible franchise owners.

When researching a franchise opportunity, among the issues you should consider is whether or not you could work with the franchisor. A franchise agreement is a tough document with many sanctions on the franchise owner should things go wrong. You need to be comfortable with the franchisor.

I meet many people who say they are looking to buy a franchise but don’t really know what they want. Visiting an exhibition is a great way to narrow the search.

Among the exhibitors at a franchise exhibition are the banks. They are there because they want to lend money to new franchise owners. Take the time to talk to the bankers on the stand and gain an idea of your borrowing power.

Finally, at most franchise exhibitions, industry professionals will be giving talks and holding seminars. These provide visitors with the opportunity to gain valuable insight into franchising from the point of view of both the franchise owner and the franchisor. Anyone attending an exhibition should plan their visit carefully so that they can hear relevant talks.
