The énergie fitness club in West London, which offers customers their money back if they do not lose inches in six weeks, has been voted Britain’s best gym.

The énergie club in Wembley, Middlesex has won a fitness industry ‘Oscar’ for the way it makes sure every single member reaches their weight loss and fitness target. Said joint-managing director Ron Goddard: “Statistics show that nine out of ten people joining gyms abandon their fitness regime inside six weeks.

“So it may seem a bold claim to guarantee that our new members will see the benefits in that time. But we have evolved a sure-fire system that enables us to offer them their money back if we don’t deliver.”

The club received the coveted FLAME award as Britain’s best fitness club with under 1,000 members, beating well-known national names like Champneys. Most of the gyms in the UK have less than 1,000 members. Énergie currently has 12 clubs around the UK, all of them franchises owned by local businessmen and women.

Every new member is offered the chance to take part in a six-week exercise programme that guarantees their money back if they fail to reduce their stomach and hip sizes in the trial period.

New statistics released by énergie fitness clubs reveal that on average a woman who completes their six week programme will lose around TWO and a HALF centimetres from her waist and up to THREE centimetres from her hips. Women will also shed an average of one and a half centimetres from the upper arms and a centimetre from the thighs. During more than six-months of checks, the organisers, the Fitness Industry Association, even sent mystery shoppers to enrol at the gym on the first floor of Wembley Point, an anonymous office block near Hanger Lane on the North Circular to discover how smoothly the club is run.
