Good sport: bringing lessons from the field into the world of business with Sandler Training

Simon Daralston knows all about franchising having managed the franchise growth of a leading children’s gym franchise across Europe. Simon’s role however involved a lot of travelling, which meant spending considerable time away from his family. Looking for a better work/life balance, Simon turned to franchising. “I knew all about the power of franchising, how it can help you play to your strengths without having to spend a lifetime creating, developing or writing a product – plus all the support, tools and experience you can tap into.”  Having had experience of working with Sandler Training and being impressed with what they offered, Simon knew it was a brand worth finding out more about. read more

Why Franchise in Yorkshire?

National transport and recruitment franchise, Driver Hire, is based in West Yorkshire. Graham Duckworth is Franchise Sales director.

Economically strong, Yorkshire's 'broad acres' are home to a population of 6m people - matching that of the whole of Scotland. Annually, economic output is worth 88bn, that's 7% of the UK's total. The Financial Times recently reported that more high growth companies are being created in Leeds than in London. In 2015 the region had the highest jobs growth in the whole of the UK.

One of Yorkshire's strengths is in its diversity. Leeds offers financial services, Sheffield is one of the UK's leading manufacturing centres. Hull - a major port -- is seeing renewable energy and healthcare technologies boost its local economy. Yorkshire's tourist industry is worth a further 7m per annum - with the jobs to go along with it.

Figures from the bfa show that 52% of the UK's 901 franchisors have a presence in Yorkshire & Humberside. That amounts to around 2,650 franchise-owned businesses operating in the area. In 2015 their combined turnover was 0.9bn - creating work for over 33,000 people.

So whatever franchise you're looking at, Yorkshire is a great place to do it. And, as the figures show, there are plenty of others who agree.
