Fast growing fitness club brand, énergie Fitness Clubs has opened new sites in Hounslow and Hackney with a third due to launch in Fulham at the beginning of September, taking the current network of clubs to 17.

Now established as the largest fitness club franchise operation in the UK, énergie has a growing pipeline with a further six full format and five énergie Fitness for Women clubs by the end of the year.

The énergie Fitness Club in Hackney enjoyed its official opening last month. Developed from a newly refurbished office space, the 9,500 sq ft, glass fronted first floor club over-looks the town hall square and world-famous Hackney Empire.

The club has been designed to reflect the growing dynamism of the area with a modern, industrial theme. Lighting has been used to accentuate the exposed pillars and pipes with mirrors strategically positioned to emphasis the space. The fitness area is fully equipped with a full range of cardiovascular and strength equipment installed by Precor, énergie's nominated supplier, and a large studio running a full programme of classes including group cycling, step, general conditioning and yoga is also incorporated.

The business is owned and operated by three franchisees, Hermes Jacques, Sabrina Santus and Hamilton Alogaga. Hermes says: "Since opening we have signed up over 500 members and have exceeded our projected targets. The location is perfect, attracting members from both the residential and corporate markets."

In contrast to the club in Hackney, énergie in Hounslow - previously owned by Profiles - caters solely for the female market. Located on the first floor in the high street and occupying 6,500 sq ft, the club has doubled its membership during the first two months of trading, bringing the current count to over 550. Facilities include; a fully equipped gymnasium, fitness studio, sauna and sunbeds.

Nav Kaul, franchisee, says: "The club has got off to a flying start and we are looking forward to realising its full potential. The énergie six week results guaranteed programme is working well, with our member retention rate currently at 96 per cent. Neither my business partner, Asim Shah, nor I have any previous experience of running a health club but énergie has been really supportive and provided all the training and tools we needed to create a profitable business. We are now in the process of sourcing a site to open a second club."

Hot on the heels of Hackney and Hounslow is the énergie Fitness Club in Fulham. Currently in pre-sale, the club, previously The Circle Club, is scheduled to be fully operational by September this year. Jan Spaticchia, énergie's chief executive, says: "As our market share grows, so too does our purchasing power, brand identity and infrastructure. The next twelve months will be exciting times for énergie with further expansion planned at home and abroad."
