Three franchisees celebrate a year of fur-midable success at Petpals

For more than two decades, Petpals has been instrumental in turning the aspirations of animal-loving entrepreneurs into thriving pet-care ventures. In Crawley, Milton Keynes and Christchurch, a trio of franchisees exemplify this success, celebrating a year of accomplishments after introducing the UK’s longest-established pet-care franchise to their pet-loving communities.

In the year since its launch, Petpals Christchurch – under the guidance of franchisee Robbie Brown and his trusty terrier Ted – has witnessed significant growth and success. Emerging from humble beginnings, the franchise has steadily strengthened its presence in the local landscape – solidifying its position as a prominent and thriving pet-care service provider.

“I’m so proud to have provided premium pet-care services to the wonderful pets of Christchurch for over a year now,” said Robbie. “The bonds I’ve formed with both pets and their owners in my community are truly special. When I’m out on dog walks, people often bump into me and say, ‘You must have the best job in the world.’ And you know what? I couldn’t agree more!”

With 57% of households in the UK owning a pet*, the demand for pet-care services remains strong in Crawley, Milton Keynes, Christchurch and over 150 Petpals locations across the country.

“Since last January, the demand I’ve seen for my premium pet-care services has been incredible,” explained Robbie. “So much so that I’m thrilled to say my income has multiplied tenfold since my first month – all thanks to the amazing trust and support from my community. There’s also been a growing interest in cat and small pet visits, with bookings already secured until December.”

Following an extensive corporate career, Robbie’s inaugural year at Petpals has served as a welcome departure from the hustle and bustle of the rat race he was accustomed to. By embracing a different kind of ‘rat’ – like the small, furry ones he looks after – he has managed to find a new sense of freedom.

“There’s so much potential for the future but, at the moment, I’m genuinely content with the current state of my business, as it allows me the precious time to spend with my grandkids,” added Robbie. “Striking this balance between work and family is important to me, and the fact I can do so easily is a testament to the flexibility of the Petpals franchise model and the support you get from head office.

“The reassurance of having the backing from a well-established brand has been a game-changer for me in my first year. It’s made the journey far more comfortable and less daunting than if I had chosen to go it alone. Knowing I have the support and resources of the brand behind me has been instrumental in navigating the challenges and ensuring a successful start to my Petpals business.”

Since kickstarting his journey with Petpals Crawley, James Callow has poured his heart and soul into crafting an unparalleled experience for his clients and their furry friends. His relentless dedication and hard work throughout the first year have certainly paid off, earning him the prestigious title of Rising Star at this year’s Petpals conference. This recognition is the cherry on top of a year that has far exceeded James’ expectations.

In Milton Keynes, Priyanka and Nilay Sanghrajka persist in delivering top-notch pet care to their community while aligning with Petpals’ sustainability ethos. They operate from their pet-friendly electric vehicle, actively contributing to reducing their carbon footprint – or rather, pawprint. Since their inception, they have experienced significant income growth and remain committed to spearheading environmental initiatives that benefit their business and the local community.

As franchisees like Robbie in Christchurch, James in Crawley and Priyanka and Nilay in Milton Keynes experience remarkable first-year feats, Director of Petpals Kevin Thackrah takes pride in providing pet-loving entrepreneurs with a path to business success. “I’m delighted to see some of our newest franchisees reaping the rewards of the Petpals brand and business model. Their achievements are a testament to the genuine commitments they hold for their communities, values that align wholeheartedly with what our brand stands for. It fills me with joy to see their ongoing accomplishments, and I can’t wait to see this momentum sustained well into the future.”
