McDonald's franchisee the happiest she has been in a long time

Franchisee: Jane Blackwell
Territory: Banbury
Franchise: McDonald's

“I love coming to work. I love the people. I’m the happiest I’ve been for a long time.”

Jane began her career as a police constable in South Wales, before running her own post office in Gelligaer for six years. A mother of three, she came to McDonald's looking for a family-orientated opportunity that would allow her to stay involved with the local community.

“I sponsor the local football team, we’ve done litter-picks and there’s always some charity fundraising going on. Being part of the community previously, it was something I could really grow into.”

Like all our franchisees, Jane successfully went through a rigorous selection process and then embarked on an intensive nine-month training programme, which she found enormously valuable.

“I didn’t know anything about the food industry,” she explains, “so coming in and getting all that training gives you a lot of confidence and comfort.”

For Jane, however, what makes all the difference is the teamwork involved in running a restaurant day-to-day. “I couldn’t be happier. I love coming to work. I love the people I work with, I’m working with people aged 16 up to 75 and they keep me young. I’m the happiest I’ve been for a long time"
