Is Krispy Kreme a franchise in the UK?

Krispy Kreme franchise UK

Due to the popularity of Krispy Kreme and the recent expansion of the brand throughout the UK, it's not surprising that we regularly get asked "Is Krispy Kreme a franchise?" and "how do I buy a Krispy Kreme franchise in the UK?"

Since its arrival in the UK in 2003, when it opened its first store in the world renowned Harrods department store, Krispy Kreme has gone on to open stores across the UK in many key cities such as Edinburgh, Leeds, Bristol, Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, Cardiff, Swansea and Birmingham; other main cities have been targeted in 2018 as a hot spot for a Krispy Kreme store.

In addition, Krispy Kreme also has self-serve cabinets in around 500 Tesco stores across the UK, and also service stations; all of which is contributing to Krispy Kreme quickly becoming a UK household name.

So can you get a piece of the action and open a Krispy Kreme franchise in the UK? Unfortunately no. Though Krispy Kreme UK is a franchise itself, their franchise agreement with the Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation does not allow them to sub-franchise in the UK.

Internationally, Krispy Kreme is looking to franchise. They are looking to expand further in the US via franchising as well as looking for franchisees to open stores in other European countries such as Italy, Germany, France and Spain, as well as countries such as South Africa, Nigeria, China and Brazil to name just a few.
