This month, Stockport-based cleaning business, Poppies, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary of serving the community after overcoming the most challenging period since its launch. Despite the uncertainties created from the pandemic, owner Emma Ryan has thrived in the face of adversity and doubled the size of her business from nine employees to 18, while continuing to deliver first-class cleaning services to homes and businesses in Stockport and the surrounding areas.

With an office based in Edgeley, the veteran cleaning business is busier than ever, and the demand for its professionally managed services is at an all-time high since Covid-enforced restrictions came to an end. The business increased in turnover by 41% in 2021, and now providing around 1,000 hours of cleaning to homes and businesses every month, is set to increase by another 70% in 2022.

Celebrating her own milestone as she turned 50 earlier in the year, Emma shows no signs of slowing down, with the pandemic helping her re-establish her cleaning business as the go-to service provider in the community.

“It’s definitely been a strange couple of years, but I’m so proud to have made it through these difficult times and to now be celebrating this fantastic milestone!” said Emma. “These 10 years have gone so fast, and it’s been an incredible experience to have provided such an important service to so many customers in the heart of the community, as well as bringing employment opportunities to so many local people. Recruiting and training the right people is essential to achieving high standards in our industry, which is why we train, motivate and inspire them to do well – one of my first employees from when we launched is still with us today!”

Seeing the ongoing impact Emma has had on the neighbourhood has been the motivation she and her team needed to move into the next decade of Poppies of Stockport Ltd. Through welcoming new faces who all share a fresh outlook and real enthusiasm to deliver the best possible service to homes and businesses in the area, Emma has now exceeded her pre-pandemic capacity, and is continuing to restore customer confidence by building on her business’s incredible progress.

“Our services have helped people feel safe and secure after the difficulties of the pandemic, and allowed them to move forward in their personal lives, even including preparing their homes for a quick sale. I recognise the importance of excellent customer care and providing a high-quality service for every customer - our aim is to exceed expectations every time and to maintain our reputation as being the most trusted name in home and commercial cleaning services in the area. I’m really excited for the future and looking forward to growing the business even further both in terms of customers and employees.”

Boasting a 4.6/5* online rating, Emma is excited to continue bringing Poppies’ services to those in need of expert cleaning, as well as opening employment opportunities to ambitious and active members of the community.

Poppies covers Stockport town centre, Cheadle, Hazel Grove, Cheadle Hulme, Heald Green, Gatley, Bredbury, and more. It is part of a national network of 23 offices, creating over 500 jobs and delivering high-quality cleaning to over 6,000 homes on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis in line with clients’ individual needs.
