Rivals green with envy as lawn care couple land major industry award

A Doncaster couple who didn’t let the grass grow under their feet when they took over a lawn care company have landed a prestigious industry award.

Jamie and Lesley Clark, owners of Greensleeves Doncaster, increased its number of customers from 200 to more than 2,200, impressing the judges of the Great British Franchisee Awards so much that they’ve been honoured with the highest accolade in the franchising world.

“When we bought the business, it had a turnover of £38,000 but now it’s turning over nearly ten times that,” says Lesley.

“It was just us to begin with, but we now have five permanent members of staff and five vans on the road.

“We have more customers than all but four franchises in the whole of the Greensleeves network, and the fourth highest turnover despite our customers having much smaller average lawn sizes than the other four branches in the top five.

“And we still have customers who have been with us from day one because of the service we provide.”

Aa part of their commitment to giving back to the community, they also look after the green spaces in a village in their area, free of charge.

“Other franchisees in the network regularly look to them for advice and guidance on growing their own businesses and they are well respected,” says Greensleeves Managing Director, Cheryl Harper.

When asked what the award means to them, Lesley replied, “We are very proud of what we have achieved, and this award really means the world to us.  All the success wouldn’t have been possible without a lot of hard work, grit, determination and a great team behind us”.
