Leading property and asset management firm, FI Real Estate Management (FIREM) has welcomed Anytime Fitness to Lynch Wood Park in Peterborough.

The health club operator has signed a 15-year deal for 14,000 sq ft of space on the ground floor of the Grade II-listed office building. The space will be dedicated to state-of-the-art cardio and strength equipment, functional training areas and studio for group exercise classes as well as private bathrooms. The club will also play host to a series of nutritional seminars, mental health workshops and an on-site sports therapist.

A major fit out is currently underway to transform what was previously the building’s former restaurant and enable the global fitness brand to open later this year. Memberships are now being taken and members can access the Anytime Fitness club at Ortongate Shopping Centre in the city in the meantime.

Anytime Fitness clubs are independently owned, with over 185 locations now open across the UK and Ireland. The Lynch Wood Park club is owned by Peterborough-based Jaspal Singh, who also owns the Ortongate Shopping Centre location, in addition to a portfolio of care homes in the local area.

Jaspal Singh, owner of Anytime Fitness at Lynch Wood Park, commented: “I’m really looking forward to putting community at the heart of our proposition at Lynch Wood Park and creating a welcoming environment that mirrors that clearly shown across the businesses and employees based at the estate.

“As well as making our members feel welcome in our club, we want to make sure they feel supported outside of it too and we’ll be working closely with FIREM to offer a range of initiatives at Lynch Wood Park that improve wellbeing as well as fitness.

“I’ve already begun the recruitment process and I’m thrilled that these full-time positions are going to highly motivated and talented people from the Peterborough area.”

The deal with Anytime Fitness forms part of a wider site masterplan for Lynch Wood Park which will see the estate revolutionised into a hub for the 21st century business community. Additional plans include the creation of a brand-new on-site restaurant and food facility, refurbishment of all common areas and the redevelopment of the lake situated within the grounds.

Lynch Wood Park is located at the heart of Peterborough Business Park, three miles west of Peterborough city centre. Developed in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the site totals 350,000 sq ft and is set within 11.74 hectares. It is currently home to approximately 2,000 employees and is home to a range of businesses, from multinational companies to local start-ups.

A spokesperson for FI Real Estate Management commented: “The leisure sector has faced major challenges during the pandemic but as we strive to lead increasingly healthy lifestyles, the appetite for high quality fitness providers hasn’t waned.

“The deal with Anytime Fitness sees a change of use in Lynch Wood Park’s ground floor and is testament to the flexibility and appeal that this building provides prospective tenants. With more than 2,000 employees already enjoying the building’s picturesque surroundings and striking interiors, we’re sure that the addition of the gym will prove popular with our tenants. There is a tremendous sense of community spirit at Lynch Wood Park and this supports our intentions to foster this while also encouraging a work-life balance.

“We’re really pleased to welcome Anytime Fitness to the Lynch Wood Park family and provide the space this global gym brand needs to successfully serve the people of Peterborough.”
