Bright & Beautiful's first even franchisee is finalist in BFA awards

Just five years ago single mum of two from Cheshire Faye McDonough was working three jobs in order to look after her young family.

Today she is celebrating being shortlisted in the Female Franchisee category of the prestigious 2015 bfa HSBC Franchisee of the Year Awards, the results of which will be announced at a black-tie dinner hosted by the BBC's business correspondent Steph McGovern on 1st October.

The nomination comes as Faye also marks five years running her Bright & Beautiful domestic cleaning franchise business. Launched in 2010, Faye now has 19 staff providing eco-friendly cleaning, tidying, laundry and ironing services to over 250 homes each week in Cheshire.

Faye is also celebrating a major personal milestone this year, having been diagnosed with and beaten cancer twice in the past three years. In 2012 Faye found a lump in her chest, which was found to be Leiomyosarcoma, a rare and aggresssive form of cancer that is normally found in the bowel. After major surgery to remove the 5x6cm tumour, Faye was under Christies Hospital for regular check ups and in March this year found another lump which has since been removed and she is continuing to receive regular check ups and monitoring.

Whilst undergoing her illness and treatment Faye has continued to be a dedicated mum to her two young children and to build her business from strength to strength, drawing real strength from her teams and the wider Bright & Beautiful network. She has recently taken on bigger offices in
Altrincham and now offers a wider range of services including carpet cleaning. With over 250
clients and 600 hours cleaning a week, Faye’s business has grown largely due to word of mouth and recommendations in her areas of Sale, Timperley, Hale, Altrincham, Hale Barns and Bowdon

Faye says: “The past five years have been a bit of a whirlwind to say the least but it is fantastic to be here today with an amazing business, an awards nomination, my health hopefully back on track and of course my wonderful family who are at the heart of everything I do.
“When I first started working for Bright & Beautiful I was just like millions of other working mums in needing a job that would work around my family but allow me to be independent. When I bought my first franchise I soon realized that what running my own business gave me was not just a job, but a career, a really successful business, a huge amount of confidence and an amazing opportunity to help other women, both locally and in developing countries, to make the most of their chances too.”

Faye is also a significant employer in the Altrincham area, giving local women jobs that allow them to earn a good salary whilst working around school hours and with fair employment rights and a great working environment. Faye and her team are also major supporters of CAFT (Children’s Ad-venture Farm Trust) in Altrincham, donating to the charity for every new client and running and contributing to events.

Bright & Beautiful is an award-winning business model that was founded by entrepreneur Rachel Ray in 2007. A busy working mum herself, Rachel spotted a gap in the market for a domestic cleaning company that provided full fair employment rights for its team, non-toxic cleaning products and an exceptional housekeeping service for its clients. Since then the business has grown from strength to strength with franchisees around the UK employing carefully vetted professional housekeepers and servicing thousands of clients.
