Choose a field that interests you

People often say that they don't care what type of work they do as long as it pays well. This statement doesn't stand up to scrutiny. Regardless of whether you seek employment or become an entrepreneur, to be really successful you need to love what you will be doing in your chosen career or the daily grind will soon get you down.

How do you find the type of work that's right for you? Just look around and you will soon find an activity that interests you. Read up about it then discuss it with your friends, your parents and your career guidance teacher. As a next step, talk to the people who are actually doing it; if you approach them in a friendly manner most will be willing to talk to you. They might even offer you a part-time job over weekends or school holidays. This would be a fantastic opportunity as it would enable you to find out if the work suits you. The next step is to decide whether you want to be an employee and make others rich or are sufficiently ambitious to aim for business ownership.
