Securing a New Future

After 20 successful years in a variety of sales management roles, John was concerned that securing future new employment would become more difficult. “I realised that I was coming to an age where maybe I needed something with a greater degree of stability” he reflects. “I began to look into franchising with the view to secure employment for myself until retirement age. Although I wanted a sales based management franchise, I also wanted the option of taking a hands-on role within the business. From my extensive research, I discovered that Swisher suited me down to the ground and I launched my Swisher business in September 2004.”

John also liked the fact that because Swisher award large exclusive territories with between 10,000 - 20,000 potential customers, it is impossible to reach customer saturation within a territory. Despite living in a predominantly rural part of Scotland, John realised that with a Swisher franchise, the location of his territory would have no impact upon the success of his business.

With over 4 weeks of intense training (both in the classroom and on territory), John was extremely impressed with the initial training he received. Topics covered included Business Management, Staff Management, Finance & Accounts, Sales, Service, Customer Care and Quality Control. By combining this extensive initial training with his own experience in sales, John found that new customers and sales enquiries grew very quickly. “Swisher are very selective about the franchisees that join and accordingly there is a very high standard calibre of franchisee within the Swisher network which reflects well on each franchise across the UK. Swisher Corporate are very helpful and the level of support between franchisees is also excellent. Swisher provides a great opportunity for anyone with experience in management and sales and who has the organisational skills to run a business. I particularly enjoy being in control of decisions which affect my business and being able to work to my own disciplines.”
