Colourfence hosts its first Fencing Games

Colourfence, the franchise that supplies innovative ‘fit-and-forget’ fencing, held its inaugural Fencing Games last weekend. The event, which was organised by the company’s head office team, saw franchisees, their installers, employees and family get together for some competition and a little fun.

The day featured several timed fence fitting trials in which franchisees and their fitting teams competed against each other, and were judged on both speed and quality of installation. A high-class barbeque was also arranged to keep everyone fuelled, while a bouncy castle and children’s entertainment kept the youngest attendees amused.

The Games themselves, which were hotly contested, witnessed some sterling efforts - at times in blazing sunshine! Seasoned franchisee, James Hunter, won each contest, ably assisted by his son Ben in the timed fence fitting trials. Second place in the time trial went to Sharone Freed and Luke Bidwell from Colourfence Cambridge, and third place to Bo Stewart-Woods and, a somewhat thwarted Colourfence founder, Mark Stewart-Woods.

“The trials were a lot of fun, but I have to hand it to James, Ben, Sharone and Luke who have shown me up today!” says Mark. “This event has panned out just as we’d hoped. There are lot of smiling faces, a bit of friendly rivalry, as well as conversations around best practice and how we can all improve our brand. We’ll be doing this again next year, but even bigger and better. And I’ll get some more practice in beforehand to give the other guys a run for their money!”

In the individual panel fitting trial, the silver medal went to Luke Bidwell again, and bronze to Bo Stewart-Woods in some seriously fast times!

Colourfence launched in the UK in 2004. Its weatherproof and virtually maintenance free fencing has proven incredibly popular with time-poor homeowners. Franchisees operate in an exclusive territory, supplying the products and employing labour for installations. The franchise requires no previous experience, is very easy to learn and provides a rapid return on investment. Colourfence hosts regular Open Days at its factory in Newport for prospective franchisees, and will be on stand F30 at the National Franchise Exhibition, Birmingham on 13th & 14th October.
