Kare Plus CEO wins Best Business Awards' Outstanding Entrepreneur
Steve Welsh, CEO of the UK’s most established multi-service healthcare franchise, Kare Plus has won the Best Business Awards’ Outstanding Entrepreneur category for 2016.
The category was awarded to Steve for the growth and leadership skills he has demonstrated over the last six years transforming Kare Plus from a small, Preston based scrub nurse supplier, to a nationwide franchise network of over 70 branches, now on the cusp of going global.
Steve decided to enter the healthcare industry after family experiences inspired him to change the way healthcare services are supplied. He wanted to see healthcare provisions improve, both in the standard of care provided and the way technology is used to provide care services.
All Kare Plus’ branches now offer multiple compliant healthcare services, including medical staff supply, specialist and non-specialist nursing, supported living, home care, critical care and more. They all achieve this with the support of a Midlands based Head Office of over 40 support staff, bespoke CRM and IT systems, and award winning marketing.
Judged by a panel of 20 independent experts, Steve’s emphasis on compliance and quality of care was a strong factor in winning this award. The Chairman of the Judges said: “After members of his family received poor health care, Steve Welsh vowed he would do something about improving standards. He has kept to his promise and now runs Kare Plus, a top-class medical and care staffing franchise company that tests all candidates to ensure they are fully trained. By building on high standards, in only six years, Steve has turned Kare Plus into a strong franchised business with 70 operations and more than 4,000 staff. A huge round of applause to Steve for improving healthcare in this country.”
Upon receiving the award, Steve said: “I am over the moon to have been recognised as an Outstanding Entrepreneur. When I set out on this journey in 2010, I had no idea how far it would take me. I am so proud that Kare Plus has been able to make such an impact to the UK healthcare industry that it is now allowing me to make a difference overseas also.”
Kare Plus also won the BBA’s Best Service Range award for its range of compliant services, another testament to Steve’s ambition of changing the way healthcare services are provided.
