Pitman Training launches in Palestine to help address employment dilemma

Global vocational skills provider, Pitman Training recently celebrated the launch of their first centre in Palestine, at the Grand Park Hotel, Ramallah. The event was attended by over 100 guests, of which included politicians, local business representatives, leaders and ambassadors, including Michael Jillah, Head of Prosperity for the British Consulate General in Jerusalem, and Khalil Rizq, Vice Chairman - Federation of Palestine Chambers.

By launching a centre in Palestine, Pitman Training aim to help address the failing vocational and skilling programmes which currently exist, and offer credible courses and diplomas in a bid to skill underqualified workforces, and in turn help to rebuild a shattered economy.

Recent studies highlight severe problems in the quality and relevance of the current educational system in Palestine, and in turn the frustration amongst Palestinian employers from all sectors, in relation to professionals and young people entering the job market without relevant vocational knowledge, skills and attitudes.

Another study reported that ‘Strengthening the skills among the workforce is an important part of improving a local economy’, and working to strengthen the human capital in the region is a valuable activity that will contribute to on-going growth and stability of the Palestinian economy. It has become increasingly apparent that well designed educational and vocational training programmes must be implemented to help address the skills gap and meet the needs of evolving workforce needs in both the private and public sectors.

Heading the Pitman Training centre in Palestine is Centre Manger, Nasri Barghouti, who having trained and worked in the UK since leaving school, has remained passionate about exploring work based learning and vocational curriculums in the education sector. As a result Nasri was inspired to move his experience and expertise and partner with Pitman Training to become Master Franchisee in Palestine.

When asked why he feels Pitman Training will work well in Palestine, Nasri said; “Following extensive research for a fitting partner in Palestine, I have found Pitman Training to be the leaders in the courses they deliver, and am genuinely impressed with their vision to expand their offering and knowledge in many parts of the world through collaborations with likeminded organisations and individuals who share the same ethos towards the importance of continued learning and development, and vocational training.”

Nasri, said; “It became obvious in Palestine that there needs to be more emphasis on the benefits and skills acquired through vocational training for both professionals and employers. I do believe that Pitman Training provides the solution and helps assist with the problems we currently face as an economy in relation to the skills and employment industry. It is easy to conclude that Pitman Training has arrived in Palestine at the optimum time to offer a new approach in training individuals to survive professionally and meet the challenges of the 21st century.”

Pitman Training courses are renowned for being of the upmost quality, and there are flexible study options which allow learning to take place at home, work or in-centre with the full support of skilled and knowledgeable advisors. This is a huge benefit to all students as it enables them to fit their studies around their lifestyle and commitments, yet remain effective and well-structured in their progression.

Andrew Walters, Pitman Training Group Franchise Sales Director, said; “We are very excited about launching our first Pitman Training centre in Ramallah, taking our world class vocational skills to a vibrant new market in Palestine. The launch event proved the appetite that there is in Palestine for learning and education, and with key leaders of both government and business in attendance the demand was clear to see. Our new centre is state of the art and located in an ideal neighbourhood within Ramallah, and if the excitement about our launch continues as it has to date we will hope to roll out a series of other centres across the wider region.”

Pitman Training are looking forward to a long and fruitful partnership with their global partners in Palestine, and to continue growing the business by welcoming new franchises in to their existing network. There are many exciting opportunities opening up in several areas throughout the UK including Oxford, Leicester and Nottingham, as well as opportunities overseas.
