Premier Sport visitors: 5 million in 1 hour and counting...

Premier Sport reached a groundbreaking milestone this week with over 5 million visits for a minimum of 1 hour on its activities since the start of the school year. This represents even more young people than ever before experiencing some form of physical activity through Premier Sport’s innovative Inspire Programme.

“We’re clearly pleased with the latest figures, which mean more young people are accessing high quality sport and physical activity. The development of the Inspire programme has meant we’re now reaching out and appealing to more children of all abilities and levels. And with a significant increase in schools accessing our services, we’re confident that we will continue to impact on even more people as we head into the summer term.” Comments Danny Melling, Operations Director Premier Sport.

The Inspire Programme was launched in 2013 after 18 months of development in conjunction with Yvonne Gandy of YMG Education. Yvonne has worked nationally with a number of agencies including The Youth Sport Trust; Association for PE; Sports Coach UK; Sport England; Sport Wales; Sport Scotland and a significant number of Local Authorities across England.

Inspire to Achieve, the primary school strand of the Inspire Programme, has four key elements PLAY Active, START Active, STAY Active and SPORT Active. Each element has clear objectives and learning outcomes which go beyond just playing sport. And to support consistency of delivery, Premier Sport has also carried out over 770 assessments and employed an independent consultant and Ofsted Inspector to carryout Ofsted style assessments, ensuring their national CPD and training programme is impacting positively on their Activity Professionals.

Premier Sport have been judged ‘outstanding’ on a number of occasions by Ofsed following inspections this academic year.
“One suggested solution of the Ofsted criteria for Sports Premium funding is to utilise qualified sports coaches to work with primary teachers when teaching PE. Premier Sport have been supporting High Bank JI&N over recent weeks to improve the quality of sport and PE provision within the school. During a recent Ofsted the quality of teaching for a PE lesson delivered by Lee Ryan was judged to be 'Outstanding' which has significantly helped the school to demonstrate a significant improvement in the teaching of PE within the school curriculum” commented head teacher, Karen Summers at High Bank school, West Yorkshire.

With over 700 Activity Professionals working throughout the UK, Premier Sport, continues to provide schools, communities and young people with a high quality, reliable and sustainable service in a changing and evolving landscape
