Scottish Card Connection franchisee expands territory

Leading greeting card publisher, Card Connection has today announced that David Roseweir, franchisee for Stirling and Perth, has acquired the Dundee and Kirkcaldy territory from David Fyffe who now retires after 10 years as a franchisee. David Roseweir’s wife Dawna will now help him run the expanded territory, supplying quality greeting cards and accessories from Card Connection’s extensive range to more than 300 retailers in Scotland.

“I first joined Card Connection in 2007,” explains David Roseweir. “Previously I was a franchisee for Esso but when it became a company owned operation it was time for a new challenge. Card Connection used to supply the Esso station and the set up impressed me from the outset.

“Since start-up, I have gradually grown my Card Connection franchise originally acquiring Stirling and Perth then adding Edinburgh in 2009,” continues Roseweir. “Now I have added a further 100 retail outlets to my customer base by purchasing the Dundee and Kirkcaldy territory.

“The key will be to manage call routes effectively, as there is now a large geographical area to cover,” confirms Roseweir. “I will take on the additional merchandising, supplying the retailers with greeting cards and managing the displays while Dawna will be back at base preparing for deliveries and looking after the administration. I am really excited about continuing to develop the franchise and building the business, now in partnership with my wife.”

Michael Johnson, managing director, Card Connection comments: “We are delighted that David has chosen to expand his franchise in this way and the team is looking forward to supporting the couple in their new venture. There are also various opportunities for other individuals or couples who are interested running a Card Connection franchise including the Ayr/Kilmarnock franchise which has recently become available. This represents an opportunity to acquire an established franchise business in East Ayrshire including the second largest town in Ayrshire.

Card Connection is one of the UK’s largest card publishers and is the market leader in the franchised distribution of greeting cards. The Business’ unique model of consignment sales has resulted in a strong brand and established reputation which has been proven over many years and in 2013 Card Connection celebrated its 21st year in operation as a franchisor. Through its franchisees Card Connection supplies about 12,000 retailers throughout the UK.

Card Connection is part of UK Greetings, which is a subsidiary of American Greetings Inc., one of the largest greeting card publishers in the world and has limited vacancies for franchisees that are keen to run an expanding business. Since the franchise network in the UK is complete, the available opportunities now consist of acquiring an already-established territory from an existing franchisee. These vary in price according to their level of development, but start at £7k + Stock + Card Connection fee with earnings potential in excess of £50k per annum.
