The SUBWAY brand opens new stores with MRH retail

The SUBWAY® brand is pleased to announce it has partnered with forecourt operator MRH Retail, which will see 10 new SUBWAY® stores open in the UK by the end of the year.

The plan has already seen three stores open at MRH Retail sites in Scotland, with the latest store opening on 28th June in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire. This follows the successful opening of the first two stores in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire, which opened in April, followed by Springburn, Glasgow in May.

MRH Retail plans to open a further seven SUBWAY® stores in 2014, with a view of having 30 stores at select locations by the end of 2015 as part of its ongoing development plan.

With over 370 forecourt sites around the UK, MRH Retail – the trading name of MRH (GB) Limited - is the largest independent owner and operator of motor fuel service stations in the country. It is also one of the top 10 convenience store retailers in the UK.

The partnership with the SUBWAY® brand has already created over 25 jobs, with many more expected with the opening of further stores throughout this year and next.

MRH Retail joins a number of other leading convenience stores and forecourt operators partnered with the SUBWAY® brand who operate stores in non-traditional locations.. There are currently more than 400 SUBWAY® stores open or in development in non-traditional locations, such as within convenience stores, forecourt sites, hospitals, universities or transport hubs.

The SUBWAY® brand remains the world’s largest specialist sandwich provider with more than 42,000 stores worldwide, including more than 1,800 stores in the UK and Ireland.

The new partnership with MRH Retail signifies the continued strength of the SUBWAY® brand in the UK Quick Service Restaurant market, and the ability to offer customer’s great value SUBWAY® Subs, flatbreads and salads, made fresh in front of them.

Seeking to enhance its portfolio of service stations with a QSR provider, MRH Retail chose the SUBWAY® brand due to its expertise in the market, the tried-and-tested franchise model - which is world renowned – alongside the strength of the SUBWAY® brand and its popular products.
