The SUBWAY franchise announces new appointment for UK and Ireland

The SUBWAY® brand has announced the appointment of a new Area Development Manager in the UK and Ireland.

Greg Madigan – who officially started in the role this week – has over a decade of experience with the SUBWAY® brand, and takes over the responsibility of developing the brand in the UK and Ireland, working with a team of Development Agents across the territory.

Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, Greg has a background in the Quick Service Restaurant market, having spent 14 years with the Black Stump Char-Grill chain in his hometown, as Operations Manager, before joining the SUBWAY® brand.

Ahead of his recent move to the UK, Greg was based in Brisbane, Australia at the SUBWAY® brand’s national head office, responsible for store operations nationwide. Prior to that he was General Manager for the SUBWAY® brand’s Development Office in Sydney, overseeing the development of the brand and stores across New South Wales.

Greg joins the SUBWAY® team in the UK and Ireland – based at its Cambridge headquarters -as the brand continues to experience strong growth and expansion. Earlier this summer, the SUBWAY® brand reached the 1,800th milestone store opening with a forecourt store with operator Euro Garages in Peterborough.

Greg, commented: “I’m really excited to be joining the UK and Ireland team, especially at such an important time for the growth of the brand across the region.

“The SUBWAY® brand is of course very popular across the UK and Ireland, the team have done a great job in developing the brand to get to 1,800 stores – the largest market in Europe. I see that my job is to help build on this, and facilitate growth not only with individual and multi-unit franchisees looking to develop their own store portfolio, but also with our corporate partners.”

Mike Charest, Assistant Regional Director for SUBWAY® Europe, said: “We are delighted to have Greg on board, heading up the development of the brand in the UK and Ireland. He brings with him tremendous experience, not only of the SUBWAY® brand thanks to his time in Australia at national headquarters, and at the Sydney Development Office, but also of the Quick Service Restaurant market in general, which is very important, as the markets in the UK and Ireland continue to develop at a significant rate.”
